we did it!

6th September 2010
So the race was run yesterday, on a gloriously pleasant September Sunday. With some pre-race nerves we ate our porridge and had our cuppa, and then headed off into town. The run up St Vincent Street wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be, and after losing track of how far we'd gone it was a relief to get to the other side of the Kingston Bridge to reach the 4k mark already! Craig speeded off from me at this point showing his more focused training routine paid off, whilst I took my time and focused on running the whole way round, no walking for me! After a tough spell in the middle, and a sneaky wee hill in Pollokshields no one told me about, we made it to the end - Craig in a very nice 1hr 1minute, me a wee bit behind in 1hr 6mins (I will admit Craig would've gone faster if he hadn't have kept me company for the first 3k!) So all in all a successful day - and we're amazed by how much people donated to such a great cause. More than double our target which is amazing, as we all know things are a bit tough for everyone at the moment, and there's a lot of other causes looking for sponsorship and support at the moment. Thank you so much!! Alison and Craig x

Run Run Run.....

6th August 2010
Thank you so much for donations so far! We did our first 10k distance on Wednesday night, at Mugdock Reservoir. We were both pretty pleased with our progress, mainly in the fact that we (I) made it round in one piece! Both were extremely pleased with our times, although aware that it was a very flat route, with no junctions, and there was barely anyone else there so there were no disruptions/distractions/hills!! But still, hi-fives all round. Current debate from my point of view is what to listen to on the i-pod...music is tricky as I feel the need to run in time with the beat...tried some Open University Lectures the other night (I know, big geek) and it was quite nice and relaxing.... Thanks again for the cash so far, I'm off to get some more willing sponsors..... :) Ali :)
